Learning about the Network
What is the Neural Network?
The Neural Network (sometimes just called the Network) is a very large group of sims that are affiliated with each other in order to help each other and share the same benifits given by the Network.
What are the advantages of having a network of sims?
Having a network allows ideas from one sim to float to another in order to help the other sim. For example, a sim comes up with a mission idea and goes through with it and calls it good. The sim sends it to the Master Reference section at the Core of the Neural Network. Another sim that is having trouble coming up with an idea and decides to go to the Master Reference to get a mission idea and sees the mission that the previous sim put there, uses it, and has just has much fun. This is just one of many ways of sims benifiting from each other.
Wait, what's the Core and Master Reference?
The Core is the heart of the Neural Network. Everyone is apart of the core and members of the network are urged to visit there often and network news is constantly updated there. The Master Reference is one of the six current braches to the Core. I'll explain each of them:
- Master Reference- The Master Reference is where all public records, idea board, writer's block, trek glossary, R & D, and many other neat things are located. Members contribute and use this to help them in there sims.
- Mess Hall- The Mess Hall (or More if we get to big) is aplace where any member of the network can chat to another one. A place to go to have fun.
- Staff Room- This is for staff only. Here the staff work together to develop the Network.
- Meeting Room(s)- This is where a meetings are held. mostly just for the staff and High Command, but other sims or captains may meet here in the meeting area as well
- Basic Training- This where the inexperienced get there training done at. For those who need training in a certain position they are emailed lessons, but sim training is done interactively.
- Activity Room- This is where any activities will be held.
Who are Staff and High Command?
The Staff are responsible for all the technical and behind the scenes stuff. The High Command is responsible for all sim related things. Both High Command and Staff are the only ones with the authority to give promote to a higher rank.
How does the Neural Network work?
For the most part, a member that has joined the Network is sent to a sim and operates in a sim as a normal one would, but the member can do other things like:
- The member can join other side clubs like R & D, ones that pertain to their position (i.e. if you were a science officer you could join the science team), and others
- The member can submit things like mission idea, stories, and suggestions to the Master Reference that he/she would like.
- The member can go to the Mess Hall or participate in activities held by the Network.
- The member can get training at the Basic training area.
- A member gets his/her rank up by earning Rank Points (yes I know, but it's the only way to be fair for ranks). You can earn Rank Points(RP) by good reports from your captain to the Fleet Admiral, get it in an activity, contribute to the Master Reference(with good material), and for the length that you have stayed at the sim. Staff & High Command are the only ones that can give RP to members, even captains.
